Update: The Doctors are saying Cancer

My wonderful husband Daniel has been under the weather for a couple months...more tired, loss of appetite, not feeling great. We didn't think too much of it because that is common here with the different parasites.
The past week, he got a fever, had night sweats, and started feeling worse.
Then the past few days, he got worse and worse...he could no longer eat or drink anything, had pain in his stomach, felt a ball in there, and due to not eating and being dehydrated, was very, very sick and weak.
The doctors treated him for food poisoning at first, though he didn't really have those signs.
Today, he went to the hospital and they ran more tests and said that his gallbladder is completely plugged and they are basically 100 % sure it is cancer.
He has to have emergency surgery right now; we'll know more after they get inside him.
I'm at home with our 11 children by ourselves right now. The hospital is in the next town.
I know whatever it is, the Lord has allowed it and will use it for good and His glory. Sometimes I just know it in my head and at times he gives me the peace that passes all understanding.
Please pray.
Specific requests:
*The Lord will heal him
*The Lord will strengthen Daniel's weak body for this surgery
*Wisdom for the doctors as they do this surgery and diagnosis
*Wisdom for me in finding someone to watch the children so I can see Daniel (children aren't allowed in the hospitals here)
*Wisdom, grace and strength for us right now

I am so sad and scared, and although I don't know what the future holds, I know who the One who does. I am just wanting to crawl up in the Lord's lap right now and cry out to Him. Daniel is not here with us right now...but I know the Lord is.
I will update as I can and know more.
Thank you all so much for your comments and prayers and love. The Lord is so good and faithful. We hurt but praise Him.

  3. Jaynee, I am praying for the doctors and for Daniel, that they will find that the blockage is something else entirely, that is simple to remove. Maybe a stone? Anything simple to fix once and for all. Praying.

  7. Oh, Jaynee! ((((((hugs)))))) We will definitely keep you in our daily intentions! You're right, God has a plan and you don't know what that plan is so it's hard to see the bigger picture. We will pray that God takes care of you and all the little ones too! I'm so sorry you have to go through such a huge trial and not be able to be by your husbands side through all of it with having all the little ones. May you find comfort and peace in our Lord!

    God Bless!

  8. Thank you for posting the update. I'm so sorry to hear the news and can (and at the same time can't) imagine the challenge you are facing. I printed your message out and put it on the counter as a reminder for us to be praying, and also e-mailed everything to Nathan and Melanie in the hospital as they will also be uplifting you all.

I'm praying that God will guide the doctors during the surgery and that the results will be encouraging.

"Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid." (John 14:27)

  10. I just recently discovered your blog and have so enjoyed reading about your family as we have little ones close in age as well (6, ages 7-1 month)
I am so sorry to hear about this difficult trial and we will be adding your family to our prayers. I wish very much we could give you some practical help as well, but will be praying that the Lord will send some to you.

I'll close with a small poem that has often comforted me:

Sometimes on the Rock I tremble
Faint of heart and weak of knee,
But the Steadfast Rock of Ages
    Never trembles under me.
    ~Author Unknown

I will be passing this prayer request on to others.

    in Christ,

  36. Jaynee, I can't believe I'm reading this. I have so often struggled with any faith & this is just one more time where I ask "why" for someone like Daniel who gives so much of himself. Why should he be struck down with such an awful disease. I'm not a faithful prayer but will today, for your family, that somehow a miracle will happen.

    Blessings from Canada.

  40. Dearest Jaynee,

I just want you to know that I, my whole family, and church have been praying for you, Daniel, and the children all day every day, since we first heard of the devastating news. . . .We have wept together, prayed together, and discussed ways in which we might be able to help you out.

Now, we are rejoicing with joy inexpressible, as we give thanks to our precious Lord for having preserved Daniel and relived you of the fears that accompanied this predicament. How truly gracious is our God!!!! I thank Him and praise Him for His acts of kindness and love. . . . He is sooo good.

Please give your whole family our love and tell Daniel that many suffered with him in countless prayers and tears. . . .Last night I couldn't go to sleep for a long time because of this situation. Now, I am just so full of joy, I can't hold it in! :) Please know that whether you are in good health or poor health, you have prayer warriors behind you every step of the way. :)

We love you so and can't wait to see you again!

    Love,

    Scarlett Kniep

  41. Dear Daniel and Jayne,

I am writing you, having heard the wonderful -- absolutely glorious news that Daniel does not have cancer. Ever since Amber and Stephen told me about the situation, I have been in prayer (and lots of tears) for you guys. I can hardly believe the grace of the Lord. He is so precious, so dear to save Daniel from cancer. I want you to know that my church here in Alaska has been praying for you fervently since Wednesday night. Many of the members showed so much love and concern, not even knowing your family -- but again, it is the Lord. I want you both to know that this event has been extremely hard for all of us "Knieps". I have been in tears most of the day, begging the Lord to do a miracle. I am so overcome with joy and gratitude, I don't even know how to express it. Please know that your suffering through this -- and especially your attitude through all of this -- has honored the Lord so much. It has involved people to pray for your family that have never met you, but because of the love of Christ, they love you and were greatly concerned. I am just praising the Lord for His mercy and His unbelievable works. It is amazing how these seeming catatrophes can bring such glory to His name . . . and yet, how dear He was to allow such a happy ending.

We will continue to pray for Daniel's recovery . . .

    In Christ,

    Heather and Jared and family
