97 years here...forever with her Lord!

This morning at around 4:30 am we got a phone call that my Grandma Hancock went home to be with Jesus around 1 am. When my parents first moved to northern California I was only 6 years old. We did not have any grandparents near by, and the Hancocks became our adopoted grandparents. As the year passed, they became so very dear to our hearts and truly filled the roll of grandparents in every way.
Grandma loved the Lord with all her heart and loved Grandpa so very much too. Even in their later 90's they were both so full of laughter and love and continually shared Christ with everyone they saw.
We are comforted and rejoice that Grandma is with the Lord and we will soon see her again. Grandpa is without his wife of 72 years now. Due to Grandma's increasing health issues, they had been living together in a care facility. When grandpa's son asked if he would like to move in with him now, Grandpa told him that the care facility is his mission field that the Lord has called him to for as long as he is here on earth.
Noah, our 8th little blessing, has the middle name of Hancock after Grandma and Grandpa. The picture above was taken when we were on furlough in 2006. We love you Grandma and look forward to seeing you soon! Psalms 116:15

  1. Praise the Lord we have a loving Lord who sent His only begotten Son to die for us so we can spend eternity in Heaven with Him! What a blessing we can see our loved ones again! Praying for you during this time.

  2. Oh Jaynee...I'm sorry to hear of your grandmother's passing but just wanted you to know how I remembered her. She was such a light to all who knew her, the sweetest smile & kindest soul God ever created, and her love for the Lord was so evident in her life. I do remember both your grandmother and grandpa always so cheerful in the North Valley days....what a beautiful legacy she has left. Your Grandpa Handcock is also such a blessing to hear he is still serving Him even there in the care facility. The angels are rejoicing for sure and you can celebrate her beautiful life. Praise God for her example to us all. My prayers are with you Jaynee...love Jeanne Rutledge

  3. I'm so sorry to hear of your loss, but am comforted to read that she knew our Lord. It helps so much to get through these times when we remind ourselves that we'll see them again. :)

    Praying for you...

  5. Janey,
Praying for you tonight as I know the bittersweet sadness you feel. I lost my adopted grammie three years ago and I could not go home to Oregon. When I would talk to my grampie and ask if he longed for "home", he always assured me that, as much as he missed Gammie, he knew he had to stay until his work was done. (He started a prayer group at his dining room table. Since it was assigned seating the people were stuck with him praying for them) Apparently that day was February 15, 2008 as the Lord took him home.
May you feel that you are In HIS Grip, Julie Jones

  6. I'm sorry for your loss - even though you know someone's gone to be with the Lord, and you wouldn't wish them back, not even for one second, it doesn't mean it's not sad!

  8. Aww... they look like a sweet couple. You don't run into too many people who have been married 77 years. That's amazing.

I don't know whether to reply to your comments here or on my blog... so I'll do it here for now. :)

Jeremiah should get home this coming weekend. It was suppose to be a two week trip so that's what we're planning for. :)

We actually honeymooned on Kauai. We looked into me going with him but at $1000 for a R/T airfare... that's a little too much. :)

I hope you guys have a nice evening. When does the team leave?
