Prayer for our little baby

Yesterday afternoon, I was about to begin getting the children ready for our evening church service when I had a severe sharp pain in lower left side of my tummy. I could hardly walk and lay down on the bed and began to pray. Daniel was already over at the church; after about 5 minutes, I told Timothy to get his socks and shoes on and to ride his bike down to the church to get Daddy. While Timothy was getting ready to go, the pain began to subside, so I told the 6 older boys to get ready to go and the girls could stay here with me and the little ones. Susannah was already not feeling well so I thought it best to stay home and rest.
I was feeling much better by the evening, but while I was getting ready to go to bed, I began to bleed pretty heavily. We had lost a baby to miscarriage between Timothy and Elijah, and we were sure this was what was happening now. I went to bed with a sad heart, yet the Holy Spirit comforted me with knowing that our little one would be with Jesus and someday, we would all be together forever. Oh, what blessed hope we have in Jesus! I fell asleep thinking of my youngest sister who is due with twins just a few days before me and I prayed for her babies.
The next morning, we went to see my doctor and explained to him what was going on. He was very concerned and did an ultrasound right away. After a few seconds he said,
"Your baby looks....perfect". He/she was moving all around, waving at mommy :), had a good strong heartbeat, measuring right at 11 weeks along. I was so surprised and happy to see that!
He told me that a portion of the placenta has torn away from the uterine wall which was the cause for the pain and bleeding. This puts the pregnancy at "high risk" and I've been ordered to complete bed rest. He wants to see me again next Monday for another scan.
Isn't it wonderful that the same God who made the entire world has so lovingly formed each and every part of our little baby? And His ever watchful eyes are upon him/her! It is so good to be able to rest in Him.
We would appreciate your prayers so very much. Today, I'll be making a revised schedule to cover mommy's chores and make sure daddy still gets fed good. The children always enjoy cooking, so they will get lots of opportunities :) Pray for Daniel as he will be extra busy. I remember when he was so sick back in May how tiring it can be keeping up with the normal "mommy" and some "daddy" jobs too. The Lord is so good to give us the grace and strength as we need it! How faithful is He!
Blessed be His name!

  1. Dear Jaynee,

I read your blog regularly, but never post a comment (though I often do in my mind! :-). You and your family are a great encouragement and testimony. (We have six little ones ages 7 and under :-))) I wanted to let you know that we will be praying for you, your family and your little baby. Also, as a word of encouragement. I had this exact problem with our third baby (I hemmorhaged several times while I was expecting her and was on bedrest for 6 weeks)and she is now a beautiful, sweet little five year old girl.

I have also been struggling with a chronic illness for the past year, so my heart also goes out to you as you are on bed rest as I know how hard it is on the household when mommy can't get out of bed!

I wish we could bring you a meal!

    God bless you and yours.

    in Christ,
    Jennifer

  2. We are praying for you all! We understand the high risk pregnancy part. But, have wondered what life would be like with complete bedrest and little ones. Wish I could stop by and lend a hand! I know God is your provider and He will provide.

  4. You and your little one are in my prayers. I did bedrest with my girls, very difficult and no fun at all. Atleast you have lots of little helpers! And a I bet a cuddler or two in the bunch to keep you company.

    Prayers always to you,
    Lori

  8. Hi Jaynee,

So glad you weathered the hurricane safely.

Will are praying for you and your little one...that God will protect and care for you both. We also pray for energy, understanding and patience for the other children and for Daniel as they run the house while you are on bedrest.

Your family, and especially your attitude, blesses us so much. Today I was painting to help my husband...as my back began to ache and I began to get bitten by mosquitos, instead of becoming discouraged, I was able to praise God that I could help my husband, for my children and for our home. Your good influcence rubs off on me and the Lord is so generous with his grace and mercy.

    In Christ,
    Katie

The Lord has truly blessed and continues to bless you. I'm sure the older children will be a big help during this difficult time.
Good luck staying in bed for such a long time, I'll be praying for you.

  17. Jaynee, thank you for sharing this difficult news with us. Praying that your little one will stay strong and healthy within you, and that things will run smoothly in the household as you run your "command post" from your bed. Trusting, with you, that God IS in control, and He is busy working out his plan for your whole family in all of this. Perhaps this will be a time when some of the people in your church will feel that they can give back to you after all your family has given to them over the years you have been there.

  22. Oh, I'm so sorry to hear you need to be on bed rest, but if that what it takes to bring this little one into the world, then so be it!

I was on bed rest only for a couple of weeks with only one older child, I know it is not as easy as it seems!!

I am a teacher, and just wish I could come into your home to help you school all the kids. But, you are such an amazing woman, I bet you can do it from your bed!

    Praying for you!

  23. Jaynee,
I will most definitely be praying for you and the baby. I am so sorry that you have been ordered to bed rest. I know it doesn't make life easy but it's what's best for the baby. I was on bedrest with my 3rd pregnancy and had a 1 yr. old and 2 yr. old, nothing compared to what you have to deal with but you are blessed to have so many willing, helping hands. And your faith in the Lord and trust and praise to Him is always so encouraging to me. Thank you for being such a shining example of His love!

  24. My littlest is eight weeks old. I will be praying for you everytime I nurse her. Stay in bed and rest for your sweet little one. My children really stepped up and helped so much more when I was tired and morning sick I'm sure yours will cheerfully take good care of you, too. God's blessings on you, your husband, your beautiful children and the little one growing inside you.

  26. My prayers are with you during this time. That sweet little babe you are carrying has a purpose that only God knows. He/She will be just what God would have them to be. Praise God for giving us insight to rest when we need to rest, see a doctor when we need to see a doctor. I will keep all the children in my prayers as well as Daniel.
    God Bless all.

  27. Times like this, all that wonderful training of your children will reap rewards! All those helpful little hands - I look forward to hearing the ways, big and small, that they are going to step in and make your home and family function over the next weeks.

May the Lord bless this time while your littlest one continues to "bake" :), and keep him/her in safety.

    Grace,
    Mae

  39. Jaynee,
I was already in tears reading the first part...then I read of the wonderful ultrasound results. I too have had miscarriages and have always ended up on bedrest with each pregnancy. I know you will tweak the schedule and God will see you through this time. It will all be worth the change when the new little one arrives. Please keep us posted.

  41. Yuck! Jaynee, I feel your boredom. I had the *exact* same thing with Dippy and I hated being on bedrest. He was just fine, tho.

And I wish we *could* come and visit. I know Jess and Charley would love to come, too (me and jess absolutely love you!); I'd make a huge vat of chicken curry for us all, and Jess could bring the SkipBo. We'd have hours of fun... unless Jess loses. Whoa Nellie does that girl get mad when she loses at SkipBo.

    Hang in there!
