We are having a little baby..................

Yesterday afternoon, I took the bus down to the capitol city to see a doctor at the hospital where Daniel was treated earlier this year. We knew I needed to be seen soon as problems were continuing, and so when Daniel called and they had an opening for that evening, we prayed about it and decided I should go. We have prayer meeting Wednesday evenings so Daniel and the children stayed.
I was a bit nervous traveling and seeing a new doctor by myself, and I was so thankful that the Lord made the way smooth and blessed the trip.
The doctor was so nice. I am use to the doctors being cold, harsh, or even getting upset with me for having so many babies, but this doctor was very kind, gentle, patient, and very thorough in everything. His nurse stayed with me the entire time and the hospital there is so very clean, they have updated equippment, and once I got in, I wasn't nervous much at all.
I got to see every little part of our precious baby. This little one is measuring perfect, has 10 fingers and 10 toes, and is truly fearfully and wonderfully made!
The problem is complete/total placenta previa. The placenta is completely covering the opening of the uterus stretching out equally on both sides. The doctor said he had never seen a placenta like this correct itself and that as the pregnancy progresses, normally the bleeding does as well as the growing uterus stretches and the placenta is pulled away. It can be very dangerous for mom and baby and so we are praying about what to do as the time draws near.
The hospital that is close to our house (about 30 min. away) does not have a lot they can do. They do not have blood on hand nor the ability to care for a pre-term infant. The doctor said the goal is to get me to 37 weeks, but often times, especially when there has already been bleeding, they need to take the baby sooner.
It was a lot to think about, but we are glad to know what the problem is and are just asking the Lord to give us and the doctor wisdom in the days/weeks ahead as well as protect mommy and our sweet little SON :)
Yes, little Lockwood #12 is very much a boy...the ultrasound even gave me a 3D picture of his face and wow....he is sure a handsome little man...looks just like his daddy.
I LOVE BOYS! I love girls too! Which is great...because I always get one of the two! :)
So we can really name this one Justin Other Lockwood :) j/k
Any name suggestions? Here's what's come up in the Lockwood household thus far:
Ezekiel, Abraham, Mordacai, and Ezra
While it is always fun to think of and talk together about names, we love to ask the Lord to lay upon our heart the name for each child.
We are so encouraged and thank you for your prayers. As difficult as it has been to not be able to do all the things I normally do, it's been a blessing to my heart to see the children pull together to cover all mommy's chores. It brings such joy to my heart to see them learn the joy of serving others.

  8. I have a brother named after the prophet Micaiah in the O.T. and he has truly lived up to his namesake. He is a preacher with a lovely and, most importantly, godly family.

  9. I'm so glad that everything is well taken care of. I will continue to pray for wisdom in handling this diagnosis.

I love names. I have a question...do you only consider Biblical names? If so, I'd love to here your reasoning. FYI, there's no criticism in that question...I am just truly curious.

So exciting about another little one coming soon. I don't remember...how many weeks are you now?

  10. I have been reading your blog for awhile and am thrilled to hear how the Lord is so faithfully leading your steps! :)

    Here's my name suggestion:

Nathaniel = "The Lord has given" or "Gift of God"

I've often read as you describe how this little one is a 'gift' and this is the name which first popped into my head because of that. :)

    Blessings!

  11. Congratulations!! Another sweet little boy! And I will certainly be praying for you, for him and for your family.

As for names, I'd love to help suggest some. Our boys are named:
Isaac (means "laughter"), Malachi (means "my messenger") and Nathaniel (means "God's gift". Nathaniel had a stroke in-utero, so there was brain damage. He was born having seizures, but the Lord is good and he is totally off the anti-seizure medication and thriving. We picked his name out before he was born and before we knew he was a boy. He is 10 mths old and has already "live up" to his name. In fact, all of our children "live up to" their names, which tells me that the Lord has lead us to choose name for our children according to who He knows they will be.)

I firmly believe in knowing the definition of name, so how about: Micah (means "who is like God"), Jonah (means "dove"), Ezra (means "help"), Obadiah (means "servant of Jehovah"), or Samuel (means "his name is El").

    Blessings!

  12. Congrats Lockwood family on another boy!! I've never left a comment, but I've been reading now for several months. All of your children are beautiful and I love hearing about your missionary work to the people of Mexico. It is great what you guys are doing, and it is a great experience for your kids. I will pray that you and your baby son will be safe and all will go well.

And I love the name Ezra. And Nathaniel as was mentioned already.

  13. Oh Jaynee~ Wow! I'm glad you got to peek at Justin :-) How fun to know what sex the baby is and call him by name.

Will you have to stay in bed from now till May? Wow!

We are praying for you all and all the changes this will bring.

I wish I could come help and visit with you and let the kids play together. My heart is there with you and you will be in my prayers Jaynee~

  14. Yay for having a boy!! We will continue to pray for God's grace upon you and the baby as he continues to grow!

As for name suggestions, I've always loved the name Isaac. As well as Israel. And someone mentioned Charles for a middle name (I've liked all the Charles' I've ever know! ;). That's what we're going to do if we have a boy (middle name of Charles, after daddy).. They could match! :) So I guess my vote for your little Lockwood number 12 would be Isaac Charles! :)

    Love Jess

  15. I have been reading your blog for awhile and am thankful that your heart is turned toward the Lord. I am a nurse and know about the seriousness of placenta previa. Perhaps you could consider staying with your family in the U.S. near a hospital with a neo-natal ICU and excellent surgical facilities for you. God has entrusted you with 11/12 precious children who need their mom to help them grow in their faith. God has entrusted you with the gift of intelligence to discern that he has gifted medical personnel with the wisdom to help you in a tough situation.I hope you will seek that wisdom. Karen

I too know how dangerous this situation can be. I agree with Karen that maybe the States is where you need to be. I know you are not soliciting advice from total stangers, but those of us that follow your blog and family, feel like we "know" you. Prayers sent to you and the family as you discern what is best for all.

  19. On another note Jaynee: I am not trying to scare you, but my third son and I almost died because of placenta previa and then it pulling away from the uterine wall. Please be very careful!

  23. Dear Jaynee,
This is the first time I have commented though I have followed your blog for many months now. Thank you for your openness to sharing what God is doing in your life and in the life of your family.
Truly “A good name is rather to be chosen than great riches... Prov. 22:1a. As you pray about and discuss a name for your newest little treasure I pray that you would have wisdom in choosing just the right name. (Henry means wisdom or trusted one) You mentioned he was very hansom like his father, Cavan means “hansom one.” He also will be your twelfth child, Adeben means “twelfth born son.”
As has been mentioned this little one is truly a gift from God, several names mean “Gift of Jehovah” or “Gift of God.” (Nathanael, Matthew, Jonathan, Nathan) May the Lord guide you as you seek a name for your little boy. I also will continue to pray for you that you would have God's strength as you raise and train your soon to be 12 little blessings. (Ezekiel means “strength of God”, Lazarus means “God will help”, Boaz means “in the Lord is strength”) Here are some other names that have nice meanings...Ezra means “helper” Abraham means “father of a multitude” Enoch means “consecrated or dedicated” Justin means “upright, just one” Joel means the “Lord is God” Lemuel means “Consecrated to God” Luke means “light or bringer of Light” Zacharias means “Jehovah hath remembered” Tobiah means the “Lord is Good” Anthony means “priceless one” Mordecai means “little man”

  24. Let us remember that with God all things are possible. The doctors may have never seen your condition correct itself, but that does not mean that God can't. Follow all necessary medical precautions, but continue to trust in God. I think I have shared before how when I was pregnant with my twins they had a serious condition called twin to twin transfusion. Dr.s said there was a 50% mortality rate with at least one twin and had never seen it correct itself. I would definitely have to have a procedure which would not fix the problem only slow it down a little bit. I was watched carefully by ultrasound for 4 weeks, the problem getting worse. Of course everyone was praying, and our faith was strong. When I went in for my procedure, the ultrasound showed NO PROBLEM. The doctor's were astonished and speechless. I gave birth to full term twins weighing close to 7 pounds.

Listen to your doctors, of course, but remember that Jesus can do what the doctors cannot! I will be praying for you.

By the way, I LOVE the name EZRA. Always try to get my husband behind that name, but it's never been right with him. Maybe for your little boy?

  25. Jaynee,
So happy to hear you had a good visit w/ the Dr. As a nurse, I think it is so wise to have your care at this hospital. I was actually praying that you would see a specialist.

  33. Hola Jaynee! Yay! I am very happy for your family. I love all of the names. Like some of the others, however, I am praying that you deliver in the US with your family. Having traveled and lived also in Latin America, I feel so blessed by God to have access to medical care - the best in the world. I believe that you really need to take advantage of this precious gift that God has given you - I so want to see this new little one and his mama thrive!

  37. Hello Lockwoods,

We continue to lift you and your little son in prayer. I was reading an article this morning discussing that 90% of babies with Down's Syndrome are aborted. I was full of discouragement. Then I read your blog...thank you again for championing LIFE! And we're so glad "Justin" looks healthy!

I love the names you've picked and...I do think his middle name should be Justin :o) I think Ezekiel Justin sounds especially nice.

We're getting ready to discuss baby names too...we'll have to pick one by August :o)

  46. Congratulations on your SON. Names are very important. I prayed also for the name of my son. He was a preterm also. His name meant A Gift from God and a warrior. He needed that strength and I feel he was named as God saw fit.

I will keep you both in my prayers concerning the placenta previa. We know that God can heal this if he chooses. Should He choose to do that we will praise His name as before. If He chooses not to do that, then I pray that the Doctors and staff involved are carried by our Fathers hands to protect you both and bring your precious little one into the world safely while keeping your safe as well.

God Bless and you are in my prayers.

  55. Dear Jaynee,

I've been praying for you and for your little one. I love Levi, Samuel and Gideon. You were brave to ask for name opinions. It's hard enough deciding on one that just my husband and I agree on, let alone everybody and their brother. :) Is this the first time you have known the sex of the baby before it was born? We haven't found out with any of ours yet, but we've also been blessed with no pregnancy complications.

I tagged you on my blog tonight. If it sounds like something fun that you can manage, I'd love to have you participate. If not, don't worry about it. I know you have enough to do.

  59. Blessings to you for being faithful to follow God's leading in giving life to ALL of His intended souls ... and raising them to love & follow Him too.

Not once throughout Scripture do we read of cutting off the blessings as being our option - God never recinded His command to "Be fruitful & multiply."

Micaiah, as the prophet of old, is already mentioned, but I love it and the example it sets for a son - we have a Timothy Micaiah.

Thanks to Amy for your testimony of faith & deliverance with your twins ... to God be ALL glory! Let us not forget that we know The omnipotent Creator. I'm joining with you in praying for God's omnipotence to be an evident testimony throughout your pregnancy Jaynee and the life of this little man!

Btw, I love your play on words in calling the little guy "Justin Other Lockwood" - such fun! We're having "Justin Other Klassen" come January '09 and praying on a boy's name also - after six boys I'm ready to use the girl's name we've chosen if God should so bless. Like you, I love boys though, but a girl would be loved too - good thing, cause like you said it will be one or the other, LOL! Or...maybe we'll be surprised with two like last time? Oh-h, I'd love that again ... God can keep a surprise even through ultrasounds!

  60. I have never posted before, but I've been following your blog since I prayed for your husband when he was terribly ill last spring. I have been blessed by your faith and inspired by your gifts for homemaking. I have been so excited for you and your new wee-one-on-the-way since you first announced his existence. How wonderful that God has gifted you with such a beautiful family.

I just wanted to let you know now that there is yet another complete stranger, yet sister in the Lord, out here praying for you and your littlest son. I pray for the health and safety of both of you, and I pray for Godly discernment for you and your husband, that the Lord would make his will crystal clear for you both. And I pray too for your other children as they must be concerned for their mama and new brother and as they walk this journey too.

As for the names . . . I had to chime in. I, too, love little boys. I love my girls, for sure. But my first was a boy and I still long for another, though it seems his two sisters have completed our family. Our children have first names from the OT and middle names that come from our family. My son's name is Isaac, so I put a plug in for Isaac. The laughter that the promised Isaac brought when his very existence seemed such an impossibility! I can only imagine. My second suggestion is Joel. Had our last baby been a boy, his name would have been Joel Henry. Joel means "Yahweh is Lord", but a secondary meaning can be "God is willing/determined". When this baby is born, all who know his story will know the Lord was determined to bring him into your arms, and your faith and his will be a testimony that Yaweh is Lord and there is no other.

My thoughts. Your baby. :lol I can't wait to hear what name God leads you to, just to have a name to attach to such a sweet little blessing. I continue to keep you all in my prayers.

  61. Okay Jaynee, I saw a suggestion for Jonah in here. I love it! Jonah deserves to have your kid named after him. The middle name doesn't have to be Rover. heeheee...Jonah was a great dog. I still miss him! Honor him Jaynee...honor him. ;o)

Ummm...I vote for Ezekiel (call him Ziek)...if an Aunt's vote counts for anything...sheesh.
