Prayer for little Eliseo

One of the biggest blessings of being back in the states has been the time we've been able to spend with our family and friends whom we haven't seen much at all in the past 5 years.
Friday, we went over to my one and only brother's house. He and his wife have a little girl and our children enjoyed spending the afternoon playing with their cousin. My sister in law made us a delicious lasagna supper and we enjoyed watching some recorded episodes of the Duggar Family.
Here is a picture of little Eliseo Friday afternoon, as happy as can be.
\
Then late Friday evening, my sister and her husband drove up from the Bay Area to visit. The children were already alseep when they arrived, so we enjoyed visiting with them late into the night, and then the next morning, we all visited together with the children and enjoyed a pizza lunch together before they had to head back home.

Elias is from Mexico and speaks Spanish, so the boys enjoyed talking Spanish again and playing soccer in the street :) just like they do at home.

Rebekah told me she wanted to take Eliseo "sledding". You can tell the children are from the desert...they enjoy imagining snow :)

Yesterday, we went to church in the morning and right before we left, I notice Eliseo had a little rash by his left ear. He seems to get a rash by his ear every month or so, but it usually goes away in a day or two.
At church, I noticed that he had a bit of fluid leaking from his ear. He wasn't warm or fussy, but I figured he might have an infection. Sunday afternoon, he woke up very fussy with more drainage. We put a warm compress on his ear, gave him some children's ibuprophen and he fell asleep.
This morning he woke up all congested with lots of drainage and the rash was covering his hands, face and neck. I took him to the doctor who said he has a bad infection and perscribed him some antibiotics and ear drops.
Poor little guy looks and feels pretty miserable. At least the pain reliever seems to keep his fever/pain in check and he is mostly just sleeping all day. It's the first time he's ever really been sick and of course, it tears at my mommy heart to see my "baby" hurting. When you think of us, will you please pray Eliseo feels better soon? We appreciate it so much!
I go back to the doctor Wednesday morning and I will let you know what he says.
Have a wonderful week in the Lord!

  2. I should have included this verse in my last comment:

"There is none like God, O Jeshurun,
who rides through the heavens to your help,
through the skies in his majesty.
The eternal God is your dwelling place,
and underneath are the everlasting arms."
    Deuteronomy 33:26-27

  5. Poor, sick baby. I will be praying for him to heal quickly.
I thought of you tonight as I was doing a bit of complaining and the Lord chastened me a bit with a quote from Amy Carmichael about His love. You are always such an encouragement to me. You and baby #12 are in my prayers daily.
    Love, Amy

  14. Oh, ear infections are so nasty, they can creep up on you and be so bad all at once! I'm praying those antibiotics do their job quickly! What a praise that you are still at home to comfort your little guy!!

  15. Nothing hurts more than when your baby hurts. This reminded me of when I used to pray for Nehemiah so frequently. I haven't heard you mention it in awhile. Is he not getting sick as often?

    Praying for you, too!

  16. AW, poor baby! It tugs at my Grandma heart to see him looking so miserable! I'm already praying for God to enhance the effect of the antibiotic, so he feels better in record time! It always amazes me how little kids can feel so awful...and about twelve hours later they are running around, eating peanut butter sandwiches and wrestling with their siblings again!
How like God it is to be blessing your time of waiting with all of these wonderful visits with family and friends! Enjoy every minute that you can have with these people who mean so much to you, and love you so much!

  23. Praying for you and your little guy. Checking in to see how your family is. Love all the pics and your updates. The Lord is still working on me as well. With baby #9 I am only realizing how much growth I still need. His grace is amazing isn't it. Are you renting a home or did someone provide one for you? You may have already shared that but I can't remember.

  26. Poor guy :(

That actually looks a bit like my son had a few years ago...Hand, Mouth & Foot. Dr. originally diagnosed him w/ an ear infection but not even 6 hours later he was covered with a rash on his face and around his mouth. Brought him back in thinking he was allergic to the antibiotic and ended up seeing an infections disease doctor who diagnosed HM&F. If it is that you'll find that the antibiotic won't work. Tylenol did help with the pain and inflammation caused by the rash though.

Good luck and I hope he feels better soon.

  27. I will be praying, we are going through similar with our youngest only he doesn't have the rash but he has double ear infections. His 3rd ones since January and his 5th or 6th since they put tubes in- in November.
