Coming home...

While often times the phrase may sound trite, from the depths of my heart, I thank you all so much for your prayers over the past 24 hours. The Lord has heard and has answered.
Joel was transported to a hospital about 5 hours south of the USA/Mexico border the night of the accident. They stitched up his head and took x-rays as his back was hurting so badly. Thankfully, the x-rays showed no brakes or fractures and the doctors there feel that he just will need time to rest and heal.
Yesterday, Daniel called and said that while Joel was still hurting pretty badly, he was doing much better and they both just wanted to get home.
Last night, a man drove them north to Rosarito (a town near the border) where they spent the night with Pastor Chava, a dear friend of our family. Pastor Chava will drive them to the San Diego airport this afternoon and they'll be flying home.
Lord willing in less than 9 hours, I will be in the arms of Daniel and Deborah will be in the arms of Joel...I feel like a little girl waiting for Christmas morning and I can hardly wait!!!!
We thought for sure they would have to stay down there for several more days, but the Lord is making their path clear to come home today. Thank you so much for praying for them and please continue to pray for their safety and for Joel's comfort as they travel today as well as for complete healing for Joel.

It's been a couple of days since I've given you a baby Samuel update. This past Monday, I was able to cuddle with him for a couple of hours as I had a babysitter that evening. I was unable to be with him Tuesday or Wednesday and missed him so much. Thursday (the night of the accident) Deborah's parents came over for the evening and I could hardly wait to hold Samuel again.
Side note: I had been in the NICU with Sameul for about an hour when Deborah called the hospital. My nurse gave me the phone and Deb told me about the accident. She didn't know much at that time and just said Daniel needed me to call him. I was crying and the nurses were so sweet and hugged me and wanted to make sure I was okay to drive home. I appreciate and am so thankful for Samuel's nurses...they are wonderful.
Anyways, when I got to the NICU and picked up my baby, I couldn't believe how much he had changed in just 3 days. First thing I noticed was he had cheeks! He is getting more of a round baby look. I was shocked when I asked the nurse what he weighed and she said 4 lbs 10 oz! What a big boy!
Samuel is also drinking from a bottle a bit more. He's still a bit pokey about it, but seems to have no problem with his suck/swallow/breathe reflex...he just tires out from sucking.
And since he's is now able to maintain his body temperature better, he got moved from his enclosed incubator to a "big" baby bed...an open little bed. Lord willing, someday this month, he'll be coming home!
Home....I just love that word. Today my Daniel is coming home. The Lord is so good!

  1. Dear sweet Jaynee,
How the Lord has chosen to purify you for His work! I have been praying for you faithfully while on my trip, and was so shocked and surprised to see that you needed God's strength even more than I imagined. Your testimony is a beautiful one for Him. I know how you must struggle at times, but truly, His strength is made perfect in your weakness. The thought if you in your husband's arms again brought tears to my eyes. I know that feeling - that no matter how hard life is, suddenly when your husband's arms are around you again, all is right in your little world. God's husband/wife plan is so perfect, isn't it?
Praying that your nine hours pass very quickly and that your baby, also, will be home in the near future!
    Love, Amy

  9. Jaynee, I was away from home for about 24 hours, so didn't see this note till just now, Saturday afternoon. Hopefully Daniel is back home with you now, and is able to go to the hospital himself, to see how much Samuel has changed in the days he was gone! So thankful for all of your very clear answers to prayer!
