Still Very Critical

Again I thank you for praying and urge you to continue as God leads and prompts you. A couple hours ago Jaynee began to have difficulty breathing and "wasn't feeling right" apparently her blood pressure was getting really low, dangerously low. She is still in very critical condition. She said that she was in the most amount of pain that she has ever been in... I think that may caused (at least in part) the dip in her blood pressure.
They finally got her some medicine. Please keep her uplifted in prayer!! She is not out of the woods yet.

  2. Still praying. Heavenly Father, continue to show your miraculous mercies to Jaynee. Give her strength, relief from the pain, and lay your hand of healing on her delicate and hurting body. Lord, we know you love Jaynee, Daniel, and each of their children- and we ask that you would spare Jaynee's life and allow her to continue the amazing work she is doing for her family and the people she touches daily. In the name of your son, Jesus, Amen.

  10. Continuing to pray this morning, and hoping that Jaynee has become more stable overnight! Praying the God will enhance the positive effects of the blood transfusions and pain meds...and for wisdom for the medical staff to know how to intervene in the most effective and aggressive ways! Thank you, Daniel, for updating as often as you have!

  25. Daniel,
I am a nurse, and have followed your blog for awhile. I have admired your family's humble service to our Lord, and the heart you all have for His people.
I want to pass on some thoughts regarding Jaynee's condition right now. Are they certain that they have typed and crossmatched her blood type correctly, as what you are describing sounds like a blood transfusion reaction, where her own blood cells are fighting against the donated cells. If so, then they must start steriod treatment right away to stop the immune system from over reacting and stop the transfusions.
She needs to have 2 IV sites, one for blood, if its the correct type, and one that can be used for other purposes such as pain control. She needs to have fluids given to prevent kidney issues if she is having a reaction to the blood.
Also as a side note, 3 units of blood every four hours is a massive amount. Typically one unit over 2 hours is the standard, but if one is unstable it can be given faster. Is she urinating, because she is getting alot of fluid in short amounts of time, so fluid overload may be a problem, which can cause shortness of breath.
I am praying for Jaynee, please ask the doctors if she may be having a reaction to the blood. I hope you don't consider this note to be innappropriate, but when I read your posts I felt lead to send this comment.
God is the healer of life, and mightier than any medical diagnosis. He is faithful.

  29. Dear Janet, Thank you for your note. Jaynee has a rarer type of blood A-. Thankfully they asked before she went into surgery, They only had one pic line for about half the night and finally put in a second for the meds. Also, I probably mispoke... they gave 3 bags, one bag every four hours. Thank you for the thoughts, they are appreciated

  30. Daniel,

From your latest post it sounds as though Jaynee is improving. It was so wise to share her blood type because as you said it is rare.
70 over 40 is still a VERY low blood pressure, but with fluids and sometimes medication (known as vasopressors) the blood pressure can be stabilized.
Jaynee is in Good hands as she is in God's hands, and with you as her advocate. Ask questions and ask for explanations if you don't understand something. Medical terminology can be so confusing at times. As an ER nurse, I know we spew words at times that have no meaning for the lay person. Please ask for clarification!
I will continue to watch your blog for updates, and if you have any questions that I might be able to help you with I will include my email address. jdg143@aol.com
Blessings always to you, Jaynee and your family. Will continue to lift you all up in prayer, knowing that God's mighty Hand holds you all.
    Janet
