Annual Blizzard!

The other day we had our annual snowfall here :) It was late when "it" started and so we didn't have quite as much time to make a mess  make beautiful snowflakes as we did last year, but it was still so much fun and a bit easier to clean up!

Something my mom did when I was young is to make each holiday and birthday special.  She was so creative and we looked forward to these special things year after year!  I love those memories!  And that's something I want to give my children too.  Most of the things we do cost very little other than time yet yield something not all the money in the world can buy...precious memories...and a knitting together of a child's heart to your own.

Some of the things we look forward to each Christmas season is:

*Decorating the home the day after Thanksgiving.
*Making Paper Snowflakes to bring a bit of a winter chill to these parts :)
*Making a paper chain to count down the days till Christmas
*Making Gingerbread houses
*Baking Cookies
*Stringing Popcorn
*Going Caroling with our church
*Our Children's Church Christmas Choir
*Our special Christmas Service
*Memorizing and Reciting the verses/ singing songs about Christ's Birth
(We use this)
*Daddy reading us the story of Christ's Birth from Matthew and Luke

What does your family enjoy doing together each year?
I'd love to hear!
I'm not very creative, but I love to copy! :)

We have 4 count downs going on here...
14 days until Christmas
7 days until Nehemiah's Birthday
5 more school days until vacation
and....
1 more day until we go pick up Christmas boxes!
We'll be leaving tomorrow after our evening church service, driving during the night, resting when needed, and arriving in the USA sometime Monday evening.
Daniel talked to his sister in law yesterday and it sounds like they have quite the pile of boxes!
We are so thankful they were willing to receive mail for us and we are looking forward to blessing the children here with these gifts so thoughtfully and generously given.  I know a lot of prayer has been sent with the boxes and that means so much to us!

We're all looking forward to Christmas break.  I have a long list of projects do to around the home...maybe some before and after pictures would be fun !?!
Daniel will be taking some of the youth from our church to another church 5 hours north of here for a youth conference for a couple of days.  I hear there will be games, Sword drills, a competition on the book of 2 Timothy, food, fellowship, and most importantly, preaching from God's Word.
Most of the youth do not come from Christian homes. Most of them have just come to Christ within the past couple years.  We are excited for them to be able to spend a couple of days with others who know and love the Lord too.  I know it will be a big blessing and encouragement to them!

Well, I have a lot to do today...house work, laundry, packing, preparing for church tomorrow.  Please pray for us as we travel.  May your Christmas Season be filled with the love, joy and peace that only Christ can give!

Let the snowstorm begin!

Boys sneaking in a game of chess with Daddy
I tried 3 or 4 times to get a normal picture of these boys...then I thought...I guess this is normal :)

Snowflakes are like children.
Each one beautiful.
Each one unique.
Each one designed by our Lord!

Snow to enjoy all month long! :)

Just a couple shots of the little children helping Daddy fix a couple of cupboards yesterday morning while the older ones studied.

Luke 1:32-33
He shall be great, and shall be called the Son of the Highest: and the Lord God shall give unto him the throne of his father David: And he shall reign over the house of Jacob for ever; and of his kingdom there shall be no end.

  1. Loved your blue snowfall:):):) I was just thinking last night that today (Saturday) we shall have our own snowfall here:):):):) I remember your hundreds of pure white snowflakes last year!

Just a quick question~I'm trying to be a little more organized for the weekends so it's a little less hectic....what do you do to prepare to make your Sunday more enjoyable and less chaotic? Thanks.

    Have a gret day!

  3. Miss Jaynee: I love reading your blog. It is so encouraging! You have taught me so many lessons on sticking close to Jesus even in the storms. I pray for traveling mercies and safety as you go to the U.S. to pick up the boxes. I know the children in Mexico will be so excited. I hope you take pictures when you distribute them.

  5. I had to giggle when I read your 'Annual Blizzard' post today. What a great idea to do the snowflakes....but you let me know if any of you need to experience a good, true, hearty blizzard! Last Saturday alone we received over 18 inches with 10-12 inches already on the ground from previous blizzards and many more inches coming in the next 2 days! I can't let our son outside to play because he will literally fall in and won't be able to find him. I will always think of your family now when the snow falls! Thanks for the post!

  6. Those are wonderful! And I am sure will make really sweet memories. :)

This year we are trying to do a simplified Christmas, and snowflakes are still on our agenda! We too made a paper chain for the first time this year and the children are loving to see it get smaller and smaller!

  7. I laughed until I cried over the "normal" picture of the boys. I can identify with that so well! I hope my boys get to play with your boys someday!

Love the snowflakes as decorations... so pretty!
