If I Had A Dollar

If I had a dollar for...

 every diaper I have changed,

every finger or toe nail that I have cleaned or trimmed,

 every time I've bent down to tie a shoe,

 every lost shoe I have found.

If I had a dollar for...

 every owie I have kissed and doctored,

 every time I have gotten up during the night to answer someone's cry,

 every tear I've wiped away,

 every nose I've cleaned.

If I had a dollar for...

 every dish I have washed,

 every meal I have made, 

every load of laundry I have washed and dried, 

 every hour that I have cleaned.

If I had a dollar for every time I have said...

"Put that back",

"Be careful",

"No, you may not keep that inside the house",

"I love you",

"Be kind",

"Comb your hair",

"Brush your teeth",

"Go to sleep",

"It's time to eat",

"Didn't I just go shopping?",

"Do your chores",

"Do your schoolwork",

"Quick! I need a diaper and wipes!" 

If I had a dollar for...

every paper I have graded,

every piece of artwork I have hung,

every story I have read,

and every one to which I've listened.

If I had a dollar for...

every game I have played,

every game I have watched,

every laugh I have heard,

and every time I've laughed.

If I had a dollar...

for every time I've prayed,

for every time I've been felt so inadequate for such an amazing, important job,

yet so thankful that my Lord works in me,

and His strength and grace are sufficient each day.

for every time my heart as feels so full of joy and love that it just must grow.

If I had a dollar for every one of these things...

I wouldn't be any richer than I am right now.
