Sweet Journey

*Wanting to share this book with one of you...see end of post!
Always wanting to do everything "just right", I have been putting off writing this post for too long.  It's been bouncing around in my mind and heart and while I've imagined the perfect thinking/writing time (i.e. children all asleep or quietly occupied and not needing mommy (ha!), hot cup of something sweet by my side, well rested/clear mind....I have a wild imagination, huh? :) ), that time hasn't come.  So I have 10 minutes.

Last month, I ordered Teri Maxwell's newest book Sweet Journey.
I was so blessed by this book that I have to share!

Mrs. Maxwell is a sweet, godly, Titus 2 lady and the Lord has given her such a burden and heart to teach and encourage other ladies.  She gets many, many emails every week often from ladies with so many burdens.  Fear.  Discouragement. Worry.  Overwhelmed. Disorganized.  Angry. Unsure.  Hurt.  Lonely. Feelings of failure. Wanting to have a close relationship with the Lord and wanting to be loving wives to their husbands/ loving mothers to their children and just not knowing what to do.  Sound familiar?  My hand is raised.

Mrs. Maxwell understands those feelings.  I've had those feelings and sometimes still do!
Through Sweet Journey, Mrs. Maxwell becomes like a personal mentor gently leading you
through God's Word to the path of victory, peace, and joy.

It is a very easy book to read!  Perfect for a busy mother of 1, 2, 4, 7 or 12 children.  But yet its truths run deep.  Deep into your very heart.  And it is an interactive book!  Each chapter is full of verses with questions after each one and a blank space for you to write in your answer.  You know, you remember so much more when you write it down!  That's why I'm always making lists!!
This is what I loved so much about the book:
Each point Mrs. Maxwell makes, she gives Scripture to show that truth.  Yes, the Lord has taught her so much and it has been through His Word!
The Scripture verses are written out throughout each chapter.  You are welcome to look them up in your Bible if you'd like (I marked several of them in my Bible), but you can follow along in the book/answer the questions without having to have your Bible open.  I know more times than not I've been reading while nursing a baby, holding a child..or two..., sitting in the car etc...
It is VERY practical!  I learned sooo much and just applying what I've learned has brought already so many changes in my heart and daily life!
The cover is beautiful and feels really soft!  My husband would probably say, "Jaynee, I can't believe you just wrote that".  :)  But you ladies know how special pretty things are and I loved the feel of the cover.  It's the little things in life that brighten our days!

If you go to the link for the book and check out the table of contents, you can see what the book covers.
Time in the Word.
Prayer.
Scripture Memory.

So vital.  So important.  Yet often so neglected.
It seems now days one of the main topics I hear is health.  Eating right.  Exercise.  Different diets. Etc...
How much time do we spend thinking about our spiritual health.
Just as physical food is vital to our body...daily, several times a day...man shall not live by bread alone but by every word that proceedeth from the mouth of God.
Too busy.  Too tired.  Too discouraged.

I'm too tired not to spend time with my Lord!  (Isaiah 40:31)
I'm too busy to not give my day to Him and ask for His direction and rest in His plan.
I'm too discouraged when I live on my own without seeking Him first.

I'm still learning so much.  And am soooo thankful to be encouraged in this vital area.

I would LOVE to share a copy of this book with one of you readers.
From the names of all who comment on this post, we will have a drawing and send a copy of Sweet Journey  to the one chosen.
I sincerely wish I could give one to every one of you!  But I can't.  So I encourage the rest of you to get one!

  4. Hello, I was going through my Bookmarks folder doing some cleaning and I cross with your blog again :D It's always such a good experience to read the work you're doing here in Mexico. I live in the Juarez-El Paso,TX border and the circumstances for the people in need are no different, but is always such a blessing to know that some people always go beyond the norm to help others no matter were they are from or the sacrifices that have to be made.
Thanks to you and your family.

  8. Hello Jaynee~ I've been wanting to comment for the past two posts but you know as well as I do reading and commenting don't always happen :-)

I loved your Christmas pictures. What treasures those happy faces were to look at. Such cute kiddos!

And the Shoe Box hand out!! My heart broke over the poverty of the children yet rejoiced that they were receiving a gift. My girls and I decided that we'd like to ALL come visit :-) And bring tons of goodies for everyone. Oh the Lord knows my heart. I know HE hears me. So we'll leave it at that for now, in HIS capable hands.

What a neat book. I remember reading about it. You're amazing to do a giveaway so far away from everyone. Count me in.

    hugs~Cinnamon

  9. The book sounds wonderful Jaynee, and I can relate to what you said about "I'm too discouraged when I live on my own without seeking Him first".

I am having one of those "What is my purpose Lord?" days today :o)

  11. I have been reading your blog for a while now, and you are always such an encouragement to me.

Mrs. Maxwell's other book, Homeschooling With a Meek and Quiet Spirit, was very good, and I have been thinking about reading it again. Sweet Journey sounds like another edifying book.

Thank you for sharing your journey with us and for the encouragement you are to many.

  13. I have the book and am LOVING it! I am just reading it through right now ... all my mind can handle for now :).
Mrs. Maxwell will often say things that I have thought or said and she has just the right Scripture to answer. It is a huge blessing!
If you leave me in the drawing and I win ... (ha, ha) I'll pass it on :).
My husband said he is with Daniel :)on the cover :)... but I am with you and it is beautiful, like a fresh bouquet on the table (he agreed with me on that :)).
I just love stopping here :)!
Your journal behind the book is beautiful too!
    Have a wonderful day!

  17. It sounds like a book I could use right now, too. Disorganized, cluttered, overwhelmed, discouraged, are a few descriptors that could apply around here right now with our 9 children 13 1/2 yrs. down to almost 21 month old boy/ girl twins (also have 5 1/2 year old girl twins with a 3 1/2 year old in between-- I had 5 under 4 yrs old when the 2nd set of twins was born). And yet, I know a lot of my struggles are because of not having proper spiritual focus and priorities! Thanks for sharing about this book!

  20. This one has been on my list since I found out it was ready to order. I needed to hear everything you said today. I was just telling my mother-in-law how I wondered if Michelle Dugger ever gets angry with her kids or ever says they are driving her crazy...i seem to be saying that a lot here lately. I want to just be joyful and really I am just too selfish and in my own world right now instead of resting in God's hands. Thank you for the encouragement today and please be praying for me and my family. We are going through a lot right now. I am going to send you a letter soon! Dawn Lea

  24. My children and I noticed that you have some Lamplighter books on the table behind the basket with the featured book.

We were wondering what titles you have and enjoy.

We are currently reading: Titus, A Comrade of the Cross.

We also have enjoyed: The Giant Killer, Basket of Flowers, Struck by Lightning, Joel Boy of Galilee, The Boy Who Never Lost a Chance, Hedge of Thorns, Sir Malcom and the Missing Prince, Teddy's Button, The Captive, Charlie's Choice, The Wanderer in Africa, The Golden Thread, Buried in the Snow and A Peep Behind the Scenes. We have discovered the audio dramas and thoroughly enjoy listening to them too.

    Have a blessed day!!

  34. I have this book and LOVED it. My copy is highlighted in many times. There is so much meat in what Teri shares with us. So if I win I would hand the book to a dear friend who would love it as much as I did.

Also, thank you so much for the pictures of the Christmas boxes and bags that you handed out! We were able to see 4 of the 6 bags that we sent. It is such a blessing for our children to see another child holding the gifts they sent. I have also talked to several friends and one of our daughters has brought it up to our 4H club so hopefully next Christmas you will have many more boxes to hand out!

Thank you for the blog posts that you share with us. You are an inspiration!

  35. Teri Maxwell's book A Meek and Quiet Spirit is also such a fabulous book, one that I can only read a couple pages at a time, because I feel so convicted I need to just stop and pray and apply truth to my life before getting back into the book for more!

I would love to read Sweet Journey - thank you so much for giving away a copy!

I have about 30 seconds to comment. I am a Mama to 8 precious ones. The past year has been very, very challenging; yet I am oh-so-thankful for these challenges because they have yielded such sweet fruit. I am asking my Father to not 'put back together' the things that have been broken in me, but to make them new. To Him be the glory! This book sounds like a wonderful blessing. I will have to see if I can source it here.
The Lord Jesus bless you and your precious ones, and hold you close to Himself.
