We have a new household chore....morning and evening cricket removal :) Isaiah took on the task this morning. If you look really closely at the bottom of that gray sack he's holding, you will see the bottom is black...he found about 40 that had come out of hiding. In the evening, Timothy and Elijah do the job...they usually gather around 50 each. You can really tell if we skip a day...they sure build up fast!
The older ones went back to their school work while the little ones stayed to help Daddy get the boxes opened and the shoeboxes stored with the others. As best as he could count, Daniel counted 180 boxes have come in so far! Praise the Lord! Thank you so much to all who have given! I am praying that I will be able to go help hand them out in a couple weeks even if I just sit in the van and take pictures :)
Daniel will be gone from 7:30 pm until around 11 pm as he and Brother Humberto teach Bible classes tonight to the young men who desire to learn from God's Word. I am praying that the children will go to sleep quickly, stay in bed well, and that the little ones won't be too fussy once the older ones (my helpers) go to sleep. Timothy made 2 baked chickens and buttered noodles for lunch. Daddy was in charge of breakfast...corn flakes is always a treat! :)
Still praying for you and the family.

May God continue to bless your pregnancy as you seek to bring glory to him. I pray that the placenta could re-orinentate itself in the uterus so as not to be blocking the birth canal.
ReplyDeleteI also pray that God would help you get those crickets under control! Maybe that tarantula the boys caught could come in handy.
Oh Yuck, the harsh truth of crickets :-/
ReplyDeleteAll those boxes~ I love it! How exicting it will be to hand them all out~
I'm praying tonight that bedtime goes well and little ones don't wander around or cause much fuss:-)

It's too bad you can't figure out a way to get those crickets to the U.S. -- alive! I pay good money for crickets to feed my toad. You could make a little money. ;-)
ReplyDeleteI've been lurking on your blog a bit the last couple of weeks from the Homeschool Blog Awards. I just stopped by to say congratulations!

ReplyDeleteCrickets - oh MY! When I was growing up in West Texas, I remember a certain time of year when the walls were covered with crickets. We children had a lot of fun gathering them up and disposing of them! But today? I wouldn't even touch one, Ha!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on the blog award!
I am praying for you and your little one. I know you will be wise and get the reposo you need!
Happy Thanksgiving! Yeah you won!!!
ReplyDeleteHello there...
ReplyDeleteI really enjoyed reading your blog and learning a little about your family. Will visit again soon.
Just a question, what is the climate like there? I see your hubby and kids in jeans a lot and sometimes long sleeves, isn't it HOT where you are all the time?
ReplyDeletePelhams,
ReplyDeleteYes, it is generally quite warm to hot here. From May through November it is hot most of the day. December through February is my favorite time of the year because it cools off so much. In the winter, it will sometimes freeze and most mornings be in the lower 40's. But the sun comes out and it warms up during the day outside to the 60's...often to the 70's. Inside the house though, it often stays quite cool (in the 50's).
So, to answer your question about Daniel/the boys dress....
Daniel wears jeans or dress pants (like Dockers/Khaki's) with a button down long sleeve shirt most all the year. Reason being, for one, he is out preaching/visiting most every day. And also, he prefers longs sleeves especially if he is going to be outside because the sun here is so strong, you will get burnt every easily. Daniel tans up, but still gets very burnt every time he's in the sun for any amount of time. And he doesn't like pain he says :) Most of the workers here in our town work in the fields and even if it is 115 degrees out, they cover up head to toe so they don't burn.
Our boys like to dress like daddy :) They wear short sleeves though most days. Their dress shirts are mostly long sleeved so they wear those whenever they are working with Daniel or the family in the ministry.
The littlest ones wear shorts sometimes, but the older ones prefer jeans.
