Last night we had to take Samuel back to the hospital. He just wasn't eating much at all and often vomiting the little he did eat. He was running a fever and just not breathing right. We were very concerned about him getting dehydrated, but you could tell he just felt too sick to eat.
Daniel took him to the ER and they admitted him. The doctor just came by this morning and said the blood work indicated that Samuel has an infection which is most likely pneumonia. He'll probably be in the hospital for several days.
We will keep you updated and appreciate your prayers so much. Besides the concern of having a little one so sick, both Daniel and I are weary. Again, we take turns staying at the hospital with Samuel or caring for the other children and ministry here. Isaiah 40:31 says, "They that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength..." Most of the verses the Lord has given me during this trial have been on "waiting on the Lord."
My heart is comforted knowing that I can fully trust our Lord; He is so loving and good. Before he left for the hospital last night, Daniel prayed with me and read me James 1:2-4..."My brethern, count it ALL joy when ye fall into divers temptations, knowing this, that the trying of your faith worketh patience. But let patience have her perfect work, that ye may be perfect and entire wanting nothing."
My brother in law preached a message while we were up north on this very passage. He pointed out that the Bible calls trials "temptations" because they tempt us to respond in the wrong way. And how strong that temptation can be at times! How thankful we are for God's Word as we meditate on His truth. So we keep clinging to the Lord and His Word for He is our strength and our shelter in the time of storm. May His wonderful name be glorified.

Dear Jaynee,
ReplyDeleteYou were heavy on my heart today. I've prayed often for you and Daniel, along with wee Samuel and the rest of your children this afternoon and evening.
God is faithful as promised...
Love, Amy
Sorry for what is going on.
ReplyDeleteI believe small premature babies are more fragile. I had three at the same time, sick all year long, so much stress day and night!! Quite normal with so many siblings, to Samuel... so more germs!
We did survive it all and and the great thing: once they were over 6 years old they were never sick again! (they are 23 years old now)
The sickest child doesn't even have asthma any longer!
God is good!!
We were exhausted with 5 children born in 5 years. I don't want to think of dealing with 12! Too tiring even in thought!
Bon courage!
Nicole
I am so sorry to hear Samuel is back in the hospital. I do remember those days. My son was a preemie and stayed in the hospital 15 times before he was 8 months old. The breathing and infections were always the culprits. My prayers will be with little Samuel as well as you and daddy and the other children. I'm reminded of a song I've sang in church.... (God will make this trial a blessing) He can always, always, make something good out of anything. Try to get as much rest as you can, when you can. By the way, my preemie son is now 18 years old and just graduated High School this month. He's quite healthy now. Praise Be To God
ReplyDeletePrayer's coming your way.

ReplyDeleteDear Lord,
ReplyDeleteLifting up the entire Lockwood family to you today. Please, Lord, give them strength that will sustain them through this time. Grant them peace that passes all of our understanding...but not yours.
Lord, take care of little Samuel. Touch his body and heal him. Make him strong and whole.
In your precious name we pray.
Amen
We are praying for your family, and especially little Samuel; that the Lord may heal him, strengthen his and grow him to His glory.

ReplyDeleteWe're so sorry to hear that little Samuel is back in the hospital. :(
We pray for his complete healing and also that the Lord would sustain you during this difficult time.
I almost didn't check your blog this a.m., knowing that you are taking a blog break to concentrate on your family and ministry. I am so glad that you found the time to let us know about Samuel and that I checked. Even when you are not able to blog, we will be praying for your family. And we will especially pray for little Samuel's health and for strength for you and Daniel. You have so much to do, but God is unfailing and his strength is endless. May He supply ALL your needs according to his riches in Christ Jesus!
ReplyDeleteIn Christ,
Belynda
OH...I'm so sorry that Samuel had to go back to the hospital...but also thankful that you have a facility close by where you and Daniel can both spend time with him. Asking God to work to heal him quickly, and for all that the rest of you need during this stressful time!
ReplyDeleteJaynee,
ReplyDeleteMy Bible reading for today was the end of Mark 10 where blind Bartimaeus calls out "Son of David, have mercy on me!"
As you cry out for God's mercy, may He heal Samuel and give you and Daniel eyes to see the unseen.
Grace and Peace dear sister,
Jenny
Hi Jaynee- I know I posted on this one but I wanted to tell you a verse that is dear to my heart and pass it along to you.....
ReplyDeleteIs. 43:1-2:
"But now thus saith the Lord that created thee, O Jacob, and he that formed thee, O Israel, Fear not for I have redeemed thee, I have called thee by thy name, thou art mine. When thou passest through the waters I will be with thee; and through the rivers they shall not overflow thee, when thou walkest through the fire thou shalt not be burned neither shall the flame kindle upon thee"
Hope that blesses you. Hope you all are doing better.

ReplyDeleteDear Jaynee, I will keep little Samuel in my prayers, too! And may the Lord guide you all through this difficult trial, and comfort you! How I wish I could just go over to your house and help relieve some of the burden... (((hugs)))
ReplyDeleteThinking of you all once again. I only know the feeling of having a child in hospital overnight (as in one night) and how hard I found that to see my child so ill - for you to continually have to take your tiny baby into hospital most be so hard. Hugs and prayers for you all.
ReplyDeleteMerran
Praying for you and baby Samuel!
ReplyDeletePrecious Lockwood family,
ReplyDeleteJust "happened" to check your blog and saw I was a couple of days behind!
I am sorry about Samuel. I have a verse that I hold on to as well, Psalm 37:7 "Rest in the LORD, and wait patiently for him..." Resting adn waiting are not my two best strengths, so I really love this verse! I am sure there are many of us who wish we could be there to help you right now. We can not, but don't forget how many of us are praying for you during this time! :)
Much love and prayers!!

I have no idea if I spelled everything correctly, but hopefully you understand my special spanish. :)
Samuel is in my prayers daily. It makes me so sad to hear that he is in the hospital down there, selfishly because I would love to be caring for him here in Redding. I miss you all. You are all in my prayers also. At least you know you can count on the Lord to heal everyone. In HIS time! Love, Carol
ReplyDeleteI'm so sorry for all your trials of this year. Ours has been very rough in Bolivia, too. Personally, 2009 could be done now if it was up to me. :-)
ReplyDeleteMay God continue giving you His strength and grace to live each day - and may Samuel be released SOON!
(I know you are very, very busy, but just wanted to let you know that I've passed on an award to you on my blog.)
Love in Him,
Jennifer
I john 3:8b I pray that every work of the devil be destroyed. The authority of hell will not prevail over Samuel for Jesus hung on that cross and this sickness hung there too so Samuel need not bear it. Please do not be moved by the words of the doctors or the symptons, speak the word of life over him and plead the blood of JEsus. It is well with you all. Blessings and much love.
ReplyDeletepraying...
ReplyDeleteI am so sorry to read that little Samuel is back in the hospital. Prayers continue...
