Welcome! Nuestra Casa Es Su Casa ...Our house is your house

A glimpse into the life of Daniel and Jaynee Lockwood and their 12 precious blessings. Thank you for visiting; we pray that what we share here may always bring glory to our wonderful God and Saviour. May you praise the Lord with us for the great things He has done and continues to do as we serve Him sharing the gospel here in the little town of Cuidad Insurgentes, BCS Mexico. So send I you

I only have a few minutes here. Daniel is getting ready to head out to the villages to preach, and I drove into town here for a few minutes to check our email. We still have no phone/internet in our home; it may be quite a while before it's repaired. So I just wanted to let everyone know we are alive and well and back to normal.
I was telling one of my friends in an email that Daniel always laughs when I say "normal". It seems that the last several years...ever since we entered into the ministry...that the times of "normal" and times of trial/difficulties have seem to run about even. :)
I was pondering this upon my bed this weekend. The house is swarming with flies and when I say swarming I mean there are hundreds...they cover most everything. You can't kill them as fast as they enter. After the rains, they often get plagues here. We've had plagues of crickets, flies, and other little critters. I was lying on my bed because I was so sick. I had a high fever, terrible headache, cough and just ached everywhere; I felt absolutely miserable for 3 days.
How quickly the devil wants to discourage me with thoughts of defeat! I began dwelling on how I'd work so hard to get everything cleaned up from the hurricane and get everything prepared for school this week and now the house was a mess, some of the children were under the weather too and so whiny, and oh those pesky flies that just made my throbbing head spin!
It is times like these that I force myself to journal. I will write down just how I am feeling and then open my Bible and find Scripture to combat those thoughts/feelings. I don't have my journal with me, but I wrote verses about how His strength is made perfect in our weakness. I wrote that our labor is not in vain in the Lord. I wrote that we are to take up our cross and follow Him. To rejoice when we fall into divers temptations knowing that the trying of our faith worketh patience.
As I look at my journal entries over the years, no matter how badly I felt or how hopeless things seemed, I see how the Lord was always there, always faithful, and always at work. I can look back and see what I couldn't see at the time I was in the midst of the trial. And how it has increased my love for my Lord and built my faith. Oh, it is still so small I feel, but how I thank my God who never stops working in me!
Through sicknesses, lonliness, slanders, times without, hard hearts, hard endless work...How good is our Lord! He says "So send I you". What a privilege so endure such small sufferings for His sake as He endured so much greater for mine.

  1. I hope you are feeling better today. Thanks for your words of encouragement. They are deeply needed and appreciated.

  2. You, your family and your church family continue to be in our family's prayers. We pray the Lord with strenghthen you for the work He has called you to do.

Your willingness to be obedient to His call is an encouragement to us. The work you are doing reaches much farther than Mexico. Thank you!

  3. Your right Jaynee,
If by His grace we can look "up" and not at our circumstances and realize that all we might be going through or that we are in, He has traveled it before us and really it little in comparison to what He has gone through for us.....He is soooo faithful. I see that in your lives as you endure much there yet your always proclaiming your trust and love for Him!!

  4. I hope you are feeling better! I'm not sure what would be harder for me, the being sick or the FLIES. Flies drive me crazy! Thanks for the reminder that His strength is made perfect in our weakness! We are praying for your family.

  5. I've been following your blog for a while, you are such an encouragement to me, Jaynee. I'm so sorry you've been feeling badly at this inopportune time, I've been praying for you and your lovely family. Hope you feel better very soon, and the kids too. Thank you so much for sharing your work there with us, looking forward to seeing what the Lord brings of all this! And very glad you are all safe.

  6. Jaynee, so good to get an update and know you are all doing well.

I had to laugh at the swarming flies. We have that most every summer here. You are right you can't kill them fast enough and it's soooo gross! We've taken to just eating outside in the summer as it seems there are less flies out there than in our kitchen :-)

I hope you are feeling better soon. How long will Big Samuel and Carlos be there? Any chance a lady/girl will be coming to help you? I bet you'd love some company. If you can wait (....let's see how long would it take me to load up and drive there?....) 3 days I'd love to come visit, help, clean up & let the little ones play :-)

Btw, we're off soon to Garrett's wedding. Sept 26th. Seems so strange but it's true. Just yesterday you were teaching my little guy piano and letting him fish at the pond :-)

You were so sweet then and are now~ Be praying for you~

  7. Oh, Jaynee. Thank you for some fresh perspective.
So glad your family is safe!

  8. Thankyou for this encouragement. I think I should start a journal - what a marvelous record to look back on how faithful our Lord is. I'll pray that you all recover quickly & that the flies leave as well.

  9. So sorry to hear you have been sick, especially in the midst of hurricane cleanup! You are such an encouragement when you share how you always go to the Bible to combat wayward thoughts. How wonderful to have a written record of the Lord's faithfulness in your life.

  10. Dear Jaynee,

As always, it is great to have an update. Thank you for taking the time to let us know how you are. You are part of my morning routine and I always check to see how you are. I am sorry that you were sick, I hope that you are feeling better.

    Take care.

    God Bless,
    Kim in NC

  11. We were just talking about flies on the Momys digest. The best solution was to hold a cup of slightly soapy water under the flies. They drop right into it (as they drop to turn and get away). You can get hundreds that way. Fun for the kids too! ;)

  12. Praise the Lord Jaynee. Trust is what I usually learn in times of hardship. As the Lord faithfully carrys us through and he has many times it seems that I am more likely to embrace the next storm knowing that he really does care and love and provide in unexpected ways. I really appreciate your site. Currently, we are facing slander from back in the country we just left. It is very painful. We have walked through many eep waters in the past but slander is something we have never experienced before. After reading your site today, I realized that I had not thanked the Lord for this chance to reflect him in my own pain. I am choosing to forgive, to not stand up for myself and to thank the Lord that he has allowed me to experience this trial because... He really is good. Praying for you all.

  13. Praying for you, dear friend. God is faithful...

  14. Hi Jaynee,
Haven't talked to you in a while, so thought I would say Hi! So thankful no one was hurt in the storm. I know each day has its challenges, in the home and abroad as Daniel shares and works and fixes, but I know you have full confidence in our Great God!!

    Thinking of you!!!

  15. It's that way. Turn left at the lights.
